Initial Attack Update – Texas Deployment
The South Arkansas Fire Protection District currently has crews deployed in Texas assisting with initial attack operations on emerging wildland fires. Initial attack is one of the most critical phases of wildland firefighting—crews respond quickly to new fire starts with the goal of containing and controlling the fire while it is still small, before it has the chance to grow and threaten communities or natural resources.
Engine 311 is on assignment with a four-person crew, and Engine 112 is operating with a three-person crew. Both engines are actively engaged in initial attack operations, working alongside other responding agencies to locate new fire starts, establish control lines, and stop fires while they are still manageable.
We’re proud of our firefighters for their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication while serving communities beyond our district. Please keep our crews in your thoughts as they continue their work on the fireline in Texas.
