South Arkansas Fire Protection District Deploys Tender 12 to the Snyder Fire

Updated June 30th, 2026

The South Arkansas Fire Protection District has deployed Tender 12 and two firefighters to assist with suppression efforts on the Snyder Fire, burning along the Colorado–Utah border near Fruita.

Our crew is working as part of a large, multi-agency response to a wildfire that has grown to approximately 30,000 acres and remains 0% contained. Extreme fire behavior, low humidity, strong winds, and difficult terrain continue to challenge suppression efforts as firefighters work to protect communities, critical infrastructure, and natural resources.

Tender 12 is providing critical water supply support to firefighters operating in remote areas where a dependable water source can be difficult to access. Water tenders play an essential role in sustaining firefighting operations by delivering thousands of gallons of water to engines and hand crews working on the fireline.

This deployment comes during an especially difficult time for the wildland fire community. The Snyder Fire has been the site of a recent tragedy. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, crewmates, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks firefighters face every day in service to others.

The South Arkansas Fire Protection District is honored to stand alongside our local, state, and federal partners during incidents like this. Through Colorado's mutual aid system and national resource-sharing agreements, our personnel are able to support communities across the West while gaining valuable experience that strengthens our ability to serve the citizens of our own district.

While Tender 12 and its crew are deployed, South Arkansas Fire Protection District continues to provide uninterrupted emergency response coverage at home through strategic staffing and mutual aid partnerships.

Please join us in keeping all firefighters, emergency responders, and the communities impacted by the Snyder Fire in your thoughts as suppression efforts continue. We are proud of our firefighters for answering the call and representing our district with professionalism, dedication, and compassion.

We will continue to share updates on this deployment as they become available and look forward to welcoming our crew home safely.
