Wildfire Contained After Breaking Out at Cutty’s Resort
On the morning of May 31, a fire broke out at Cutty’s Resort in Coaldale, involving a massive pile of tree limbs and woody debris—up to 6 feet high and covering nearly one-third of an acre. When flames began to jump into neighboring trees, aerial support was called in to assist with containment efforts.
Salida Fire Department and South Arkansas Fire Protection District personnel responded immediately, working in rugged terrain. As afternoon winds increased, embers sparked spot fires up to 250 yards from the main burn area. Crews hiked several miles in to reach and contain the fire's edge.
Thanks to the hard work of Salida Fire, South Arkansas Fire Protection District, and multiple assisting agencies, the fire was contained by June 1, with spot fires fully extinguished by June 2.
